BMW Introduces the Concept 8 Series in Italy

BMW unveiled the concept 8 Series at Italy's Villa d'Este Concours earlier this year, presenting the world with a concept vehicle that is expected to see many design elements get carried over to the final production vehicles.

There's no chance of overlooking the fact that the BMW 8 Series is one gorgeous vehicle. Laser headlights embrace the signature BMW kidney grille, while a long hood line, flowing roofline and muscular rear fender flares emphasize the vehicle's powerful elegance. We really hope that the concept's 21-inch wheels are available in some form, either standard or as an upgrade, when the final production models are available.

The well-appointed interior features two-tone leather and micro-suede seating with contrast stitching, a squared-off steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. BMW's next-generation iDrive architecture makes its debut, and is operated by a rotary controller that's made with Swarovski crystal.

It's anticipated by experts that the 8 Series will be equipped with a standard-issue 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine, with an available twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 available as an upgrade. Both engines will mate with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, while the BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system is likely to be offered as an available option.

When the 8 Series arrives at dealerships next year, it's expected to be offered as a cabriolet, a two-door coupe and a four-door Gran Coupe.

At Hilton Head BMW, we're eagerly looking forward to more details being released about the Concept 8 Series.
