Hilton Head BMW knows the first of this month is now far behind us, but we feel that a truly great April Fools' Day joke should live on for a while. This rings especially true when that prank is pulled by our favorite jokesters of all, the clever team at BMW.

BMW? Jokesters? Yep. That's right. You know the innovative BMW team as automotive aficionados and masters of new BMW vehicles. And there's no doubt about that. They are. But Hilton Head BMW has seen another side of the automaker.

In the days leading up to the first of April, BMW concocted a creative campaign to launch a brand new product, "BMW Driverless Coach." Using ConnectedDrive technology and surround view cameras, the unique system was said to essentially transform your BMW vehicle into a fitness coach. Driverless Coach would allow the car to drive automatically behind you as you run while also "shouting" out humorous motivational phrases such as "Keep running fatty!"

Of course, BMW Driverless Coach is only a comical pseudo-technology and won't be arriving at Hilton Head BMW anytime soon. But BMW officials went all the way with the prank and posted ads for Driverless Coach all over the internet on the first of April. What's more, the automaker positioned the technology as a product of inspiration from its partnership with the 2012 Summer Olympics, thereby making Driverless Coach all the more believable.
